Happy Summer !  It's been amazingly mild so far and the weather has been great for all of the Row by Row Experience shop hoppers!
If you aren't familiar with the Row by Row experience check it out at this link-
 http://www.rowbyrowexperience.com/

I tried Row by Row last year and collected my free row patterns from several Pennsylvania shops. It's a great way to spend time with your quilty friends and to see other quilt shops and what they have to offer. I work at The Round Bobbin http://www.roundbobbinquilts.com/ and love to see new fabrics, quilts, patterns and anything to do with fabric. I can only imagine from watching other quilters come in to 'pet' fabric that we are all alike.

This summer I've gotten 1 block from NJ and seven from PA. I plan to get another NJ block this week when visiting my family and maybe 4 or 5 more in NJ another day with my friend Joyce. Maybe I'll even get my rows made and put together for a beautiful quilt this year!

Quilt shops need us to be there in person We must support our local quilt shops if we want to have places to go for help, learning and inspiration! If you don't go and shop in person the shops won't survive, sure it's easy to shop on-line but it's also impersonal! Who cares if you have a question about the size of the repeat in a fabric or if that pink in one fabric looks good with another?

At The Round Bobbin we love to help our customers make beautiful quilts, we love to help with fabric selection and design inspiration. The staff and teachers are constantly exploring and creating new quilts, bags and other fabric related items. Our semi-annual Class Preview Day is coming up on September 13th, there will be 2 sessions one at 10:30 in the morning and another at 1:30 in the afternoon. These previews are wildly popular, where else can you get a personalized quilt show for free? With front row seats? Did I mention prize drawings and snacks?  Please call the shop to add your name to the list so that we can accommodate everyone comfortably! (215) 367-5596.

Our Fab Five BOM program is coming up on the halfway point and it's going strong. I can't thank all of the participants for their support and enjoyment in making my quilt design.  Cottage Puzzle is made up of 20 different blocks in varying sizes. I used a Kansas Troubles fabric line for the first version and then made a second in Batiks. Two very different looking quilts!  I am also creating a Christmas fabric and Summer fabric version for my children. It's sew much fun to make the individual block in different and interesting fabric lines. Below is the Batik version. Please let me know what you think of my Cottage Puzzle quilt.

We love to meet new customers so please Hop on into The Round Bobbin http://www.roundbobbinquilts.com/ and make some new friends and be inspired!

Working in a Quilt Shop = Happiness

Working in a quilt shop is special, you are not only surrounded by beautiful quilts and fabrics but amazing talent.  I've worked in 2 quilt shops and a fabric shop. Each one was staffed by people who loved what they created and who enjoyed helping others create beautiful clothing or quilts.

Recently a customer told me how happy she was to have found The Round Bobbin Quilt Shop and how much the ladies that worked there were like family. She made me smile.

At The Round Bobbin we are like a family, most of us worked at another shop for years. We hung in through the ups and downs of different owners and many stayed there until the bitter end when the shop closed it's doors. A very sad day.

We all love working with fabric and customers. We all have strengths and know who to ask for help when we get stuck. We are quilters, we design, teach classes, sew, embroider, hand and machine quilt. We have stashes and many sewing machines.  We are passionate about our craft and that is why when you come into The Round Bobbin you will find whatever level of help that you need. We are not a chain, we have quality cotton and wool fabrics. We make the quilts that you see hanging in the shop. Pretty cool don't you think?

The shop will be closed for vacation August 4-11 and reopen on Tuesday, August 13 as we are always closed on Monday. While the shop is closed we are still working on samples and ideas to keep your creativity flowing. Our fall class preview is coming up on Saturday, September 14 so please watch for Susan's e-mails and messages on our web page. There is an awesome slate of classes coming up this fall!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and keep creating!

Quilts, quilting, piecing, cotton fabric, batting, rotary cutters, paper piecing, applique, hand piecing, wool applique, patterns, books, rulers, pins, scissors, templates, flannel, batiks and classes.  These are all words that we, as quilt makers use all the time, they are also the tools of our trade. We ply our craft using our sewing machines and creativity, we share our ideas, take classes and blanket our loved ones with out quilted creations. We collect fabric and take pride in our Stash! We come together to share what we love doing, to send quilts, pillow cases and place mats to those in need. We are quilters!

Being involved in quilting is a joy and having a Quilt Shop to go to is a blessing.
The camaraderie is a manna to our souls, the sharing of quilts and ideas is part of our craft. It's wonderful if you have a question or need inspiration to have a Quilt Shop to go to where the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. At The Round Bobbin we encourage our customers to be a part of our quilting family because as quilters we need them as much as they need us.

January 24th is "Visit Your Local Quilt Shop"day!  http://www.roundbobbinquilts.com/
Come on in and join the fun, we are having '1600' quilt competitions, prizes to be awarded to the first quilter to finish her '1600' quilt! We'll have demos and all of the beautiful quilts & projects that are in our class line-up are in the shop for you to see and be inspired by.
